An NFL fan has received compensation after giving up a piece of memorabilia that could have netted him hundreds of thousands of dollars down the track.
Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady reached a major milestone on Monday (AEDT), throwing his league-record 600th career touchdown pass in Tampa Bay’s 38-3 rout over Chicago.

The 44-year-old legend completed 20-of-36 passes for 211 yards and four touchdowns, three of them to Mike Evans, including the historic 600th on a 9-yard pass with six seconds to play in the first quarter for a 21-0 Buccaneers lead.
Evans gave the ball to a spectator in the stands but Brady wanted it back, and a Buccaneers staffer later convinced the fan to hand it over because of its sentimental value.
But punters on social media couldn’t believe the fan would just return the ball. Sports memorabilia expert Ken Goldin, founder of Goldin Auctions, wrote on Twitter that Brady’s 600th career TD ball could be worth “minimum of $500,000”.
Ezra Levine, CEO of the sports memorabilia investment platform Collectable, said the ball could be worth “easily $500,000-plus,” but “closer to $750,000.”
But on Tuesday, sports business reporter Darren Rovell revealed the generous fan wouldn’t be left empty-handed, instead receiving other items in exchange for graciously parting with a piece of NFL history.
However, Rovell sugested in his column for the Action Network the overall value of those items could be less than $50,000.

He will receive:
2 signed jerseys + a helmet from Tom.
A signed Mike Evans jersey + his game cleats.
A $1K credit at the Bucs team store.
2 season tickets for the remainder of this season + next
Brady, whose landmark touchdown was his second of the game, saw Evans give the football to a spectator, unaware of its significance.
“He said, ‘Oh man, do you want it back?’” Brady said. “I said, ‘I think they are going to get it’
“I definitely know we got that one back.
“That was one I wanted to have.”
