This baseball supporter became an overnight cult hero after he managed to catch a foul ball while bottle-feeding his newborn son.

This Cincinnati Reds fan became an overnight cult hero after he managed to catch a foul ball while bottle-feeding his newborn son at Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park on Wednesday AEST.

During the fifth inning of the Reds’ 9-6 loss to the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati pitcher Jeff Hoffman lob a ball to Padres catcher Luis Campusano, which was sent flying into the crowd.

With infant son Shepherd sitting on his lap, Jacob Kingsley effortlessly reached out and caught the ball without getting up from his seat or disturbing the newborn.

Kingsley threw his arm in the air in celebration as wife Jordan shook her head in utter disbelief.

Shepherd was undisturbed by the incident, calmly drinking from his bottle as though nothing had happened.

“Holds the ball, no spillage, baby in perfect bliss and a souvenir,” one of the commentators said.

“That’s sensational … That’s the play of the night right now.”

The video has registered more than 2.3 million views since it was uploaded to Twitter on Wednesday.

Kingsley told the local broadcaster afterwards: “(Shepherd) probably didn’t even know it was happening, but this will be a great memory to share with him.

“Safety first, obviously. Saw the ball pop up and just wanted to keep (Shepherd) happy. Did my best to protect him at the same time, reached the hand up.

“Definitely some bragging rights there, too.”

Jordan continued: “All game I’ve been like, ‘Watch those balls’. He took the job seriously.

“Baby’s happy, I’m happy and I’m just impressed.”

Cincinnati will again face the Padres on Friday morning at 2.35am AEST.
