Buffalo Bills star Karlos Williams suffers ‘injury of pregnancy’

TURNING up to pre-season training woefully out of shape, an NFL star had reportedly been suffering from a “pregnancy” ailment.

That sled isn’t the only extra weight Karlos Williams is carrying.

KARLOS Williams’ pregnant partner wasn’t the only one who indulged.

The Buffalo Bills running back, whose fiancée reportedly gave birth last month, arrived woefully out of shape at the team’s facility this month. The second-year veteran admitted the only injury holding him back was the “injury of pregnancy.”

“I like to eat, and then her being pregnant gave me an excuse to eat, so eating anything and everything,” Williams told ESPN at the team’s mandatory minicamp on Tuesday.

“She’d wake up, one or two o’clock, ‘I want a snack.’ Well I’m not going to sit here and watch you eat because I don’t want you to feel bad,” Williams explained.

“But it’s back to football. She’s getting back to working out herself, so kind of motivating each other, feed of each other’s energy, and we’re ready for camp.”

Williams has plenty of work to do.

Coach Rex Ryan noted that Williams’ weight loss campaign will be an uphill battle.

“I don’t think it’s gonna be easy. I don’t think that at all,” Ryan said.

“Obviously, he’s had some different things. I know some personal things, all that. But we do have to be slow with him.”

Ryan later added, “Obviously he’s not anywhere close to where he needs to be to play at a high level. We got to get some weight off of him and he certainly understands that.”

Ryan and his brother, Rob, are no strangers to dietary programs. Though both twins have had lap-band surgery, after Rob’s arrival in Buffalo to become assistant head coach, Rex put on 30 pounds compared to Rob’s 24.

“I was going to get his weight down to mine. No, no, my weight started going up to his,” Rex Ryan told MMQB.com. “So that’s really what happened there.”
