CARLTON is confident of keeping out-of-contract spearhead Levi Casboult.
The Blues have offered the key forward a two-year deal as coach Brendon Bolton’s aggressive list rebuild continues.
While the 201cm Casboult, 26, wants to stay at Princes Park, the protracted talks may leave him open to a late poaching raid.
Brisbane Lions had shown interest, but are believed to be looking elsewhere for a top-line forward target.
Casboult returned to strong form on Saturday, bagging four goals in the Blues’ narrow loss to the Lions at the Gabba.
He has booted 17 goals in 18 games this season, third for the Blues behind Matthew Wright and Bryce Gibbs (both 18).
However, Casboult’s accuracy has taken a hit after the departure of goalkicking coach Saverio Rocca at the end of last year.
