ALEX Johnson has suffered yet another injury setback that will delay his return to senior football with the luckless Swan to undergo more surgery.
The 25-year-old, who has had five knee reconstructions, requires groin surgery after experiencing pain in his hip and groin during pre-season training.
The issue has occurred since Johnson and the Swans have increased his load over the summer.
He will be sidelined for three to four weeks before he can resume running and will miss the club’s AFLX and JLT Series matches.
Johnson made a successful and emotional return to football late last year, when he played his first competitive game since the 2012 Grand Final in the NEAFL.
He played nine games for the Swans reserves, in a positive sign for his return to football.
Johnson was delisted at the end of last year but redrafted by the Swans as a rookie.
He has played 45 career games and first ruptured his ACL in a pre-season clash against Gold Coast in 2013.
