IT might still be 105 days until their Round 1 game, but Melbourne players weren’t cut any slack during a gruelling training session in yesterday’s searing heat.
The session started at 9.30am, by which point the mercury had already hit 31.5 degrees at Gosch’s Paddock.

Most players did not leave the track until almost two hours later, just before 11.30am.
While first-year players and recruits including Steven May and Braydon Preuss were absent, the likes of Jack Viney, Jordan Lewis, Christian Petracca and Clayton Oliver all featured.
Defender Sam Frost took top points for being sun smart, his face covered in white zinc and a Legionnaire’s hat ensuring his head and ears were well covered.
Alex Neal-Bullen was a standout in the running stakes late in the session, consistently crossing the line first during repeat sprints as well as endurance-testing laps around the oval.
The session got the better of a few players, though, including Charlie Spargo who was spotted hunched over vomiting multiple times at the end.
The Demons meet Port Adelaide at the MCG in Round 1 on March 23.
Don't envy these Dees. Been on the track for close to two hours. Current temp: 33 degrees. @superfooty pic.twitter.com/lqaNPqgZzr
