Triple Geelong premiership star Jimmy Bartel has joined Greater Western Sydney’s board of directors.
The Cats champion, who recently worked with Brisbane’s list management team in a part-time role, will juggle his new position with media commitments and business roles next season.

GWS chairman Tony Shepherd said the appointment of Bartel to the board is significant.
“Jimmy is regarded as one of the most well-rounded people in the football community and we’re delighted to have him join our Board,” Shepherd said.
“His knowledge of the AFL industry is second to none and his work in the community and in business sees him well positioned to contribute to the club in a range of ways.
“Jimmy understands that we’re a young club with enormous opportunity in front of us, something he is excited to be a part of.”
The 2007 Brownlow Medallist played 305 career games for Geelong before announcing his retirement at the end of 2016. He played in the Cats’ 2007, 2009 and 2011 premierships.
Bartel also has a number of business interests, including being part-owner of sports brand X-Blades.
