The smallest Giant of all has declared there are no mental scars for GWS coming up against the Western Bulldogs.

Just two weeks ago GWS was steamrolled by arguably the team’s most in-form team and few have forgotten the famous final from 2016 which the Bulldogs clinched in the dying moments of an all-time classic which preceded their premiership triumph.

But the AFL’s latest Rising Star nominee, small forward Brent Daniels says the Giants aren’t haunted by recent and ancient history against the Bulldogs.

Daniels stands at just 170cm, but stood tall last weekend against Gold Coast and credits Coleman Medal winner and fellow country lad, Jeremy Cameron for instilling him with confidence heading into his first finals’ series.

The Giants fear no one, according to Daniels.

“I don’t think there’s too many scars. We were winning the game (two weeks ago) at halftime,” he said.

“We know our best footy can beat them, we just dropped off second half. I wouldn’t say there’s any scars.

“Obviously the Doggies are going really well and are a really good contested ball team and they play a really exciting brand, so we’ll have to win contested ball.”

Daniels debuted in 2018 but was omitted for the Giants run to the finals and says he’s motivated by his experience of being on the outer when the whips are cracking.

Cameron is a good mentor.

“It did (hurt) a little bit. I didn’t deserve to be in the team, I was flat. But I didn’t deserve to be in there,” he said.

“That’s motivated me. Everyone that plays wants to play in big games and in big finals and I’m always looking to do that and I can’t wait for next Saturday.

“Jeremy is always giving me confidence that I deserve to be in the team and I’m doing a good job and that’s the main thing he’s done for me.”
