MICHAEL Hurley will leave Essendon to chase a premiership elsewhere, according to former teammate Paul Chapman.

Hurley is contracted to the Bombers for next season but is weighing up his future on an overseas trip.

He is due back in Melbourne later this month.

Chapman said Hurley wants change.

“He is very loyal and those boys are really close and it will hurt him to leave,” Chapman said on RSN.

“But I think he craves success and I think he believes it’s not going to be at the Essendon footy club.

“He enjoys his time there but he wants more.”

The Dogs have confirmed their interest in Hurley, 26, but almost every club would be keen to lure the star big man.

St Kilda and Melbourne are other keen suitors.

Chapman said Hurley was not totally content at Tullamarine.

“I know there’s things at the footy club that he knows needs improving and if he doesn’t see these things happening he won’t hang around to live that any more,” he said.
