Darcy Moore’s manager Liam Pickering denies Richmond talks about star Pie

The 2020 season hasn’t started yet but the rumour mill is already churning, with reports Richmond has expressed interest in Collingwood star Darcy Moore as a replacement for Alex Rance and Eddie McGuire isn’t happy.

Collingwood president Eddie McGuire has declared there will be “blood flowing down Punt Rd” if Richmond pulled off a recruiting coup and lured Darcy Moore to Tigerland.

A report emerged on Tuesday the Tigers have the star Collingwood defender, who is out of contract at season’s end, in their sights to replace the retired Alex Rance.

“That’ll go down well,” McGuire said on Triple M. “When his father went to Melbourne that went down a treat. Darc going to Richmond, that’d just be really good, wouldn’t it?

“The last time they started poaching from Collingwood, we put them in the bin for 30 years.

“Wait if it ever comes true. Blood will be flowing down Punt Rd and Hoddle St again.”

Moore’s manager Liam Pickering said he has not spoken to Richmond despite a report the Tigers will table a lucrative offer in a bid to entice Moore out of Collingwood.

“I haven’t at this stage even mentioned another substantial offer,” Pickering told SEN Breakfast.

“I haven’t spoken to Richmond over Darcy Moore.”

But Pickering confirmed there is still a bit of work to be done on the out-of-contract Magpies father-son jet.

“We caught up with Collingwood (on Moore) the other week and we’ve still got a bit of work to go,” Pickering said.

“We’re negotiating but it’s nowhere near over the line.”

Moore has attracted genuine interest from rival clubs the past two seasons.

The prodigious 203cm talent played 71 games across five seasons.

Richmond star Bachar Houli won’t use the bushfire relief game as an opportunity to speak to Moore about a potential move, with the two Big V teammates.

“I was pretty surprised (to hear the reports), but I don’t know what is happening,” he said.

“He is a fantastic player, he would be one of the best defenders in the country. Obviously, he has got another year on his contract.

“I am sure he is focused on his football and we are focused on doing the job here as well.

“We will let the right people make the right decisions. I am sure there will be 16 others clubs very interested in Darcy Moore.”
