Adelaide midfielder Bryce Gibbs ‘slightly proud’ of his resilience in dealing with SANFL demotions

It’s been a tough year for Adelaide’s Bryce Gibbs, being dropped from the AFL side four times, but the midfielder says his latest comeback has defied critics who have ‘written me off’.

Adelaide midfielder Bryce Gibbs says he’s proud of his ability to work through what has been a tough season at the Crows.

Gibbs, dropped four times this year after his club effectively forked out two first-round picks to bring him back to Adelaide at the end of 2017, has struggled to find his best form.

But the one-time Carlton star and former no. 1 draft pick showed signs he was again nearing his best with a polished 29-disposal display in his side’s win over St Kilda at the weekend.

It hasn’t been an easy ride for the former Glenelg junior, forced to return to the SANFL in a bid to recapture his form.

But he said he always held belief he could make it back to the top level.

“If anything, I’ve probably learnt a few things about myself, going through a few new processes … that I haven’t been in before,” Gibbs told RSN radio on Wednesday.

“I’ve been slightly proud of myself the way I’ve been able to navigate my way through it.

“Some people have written me off along the way and I’ve been able to push through that and get back in the side.

“It’s only been one game but hopefully I can build from Saturday night’s performance and continue to help the team.”
