It’s been a massive weekend for KFC SuperCoach players, with the Round 1 dress rehearsal in full swing. Who stood tall and who flopped? Check out all the Marsh Series scores.

We can usually take pre-season form with a grain of salt but when it comes to KFC SuperCoach, pre-season matches are critical for our preparation for the season ahead.
Mostly, we’re looking at the cash cows — the draftees or young players who are set to burst onto the scene.
We’re also looking for players who have been in the system for three or four years and who are ready to have a breakout season.

GEELONG V ESSENDON
The Marsh Series saved its best for last for KFC SuperCoaches.
After a pre-season series which has led to a SuperCoach rookie crisis, four players confirmed themselves as must-haves in Colac.
Jack Steven ($361,700) was dynamic on debut for the Cats, Brandon Zerk-Thatcher ($189,000) displayed his intercept marking prowess and Devon Smith ($335,800) cracked a to confirm himself as one of the bargain MID-FWDs of 2020.
Patrick Dangerfield, Zach Tuohy and mid-price Bomber Andrew McGrath were other stars as the Bombers completed an unbeaten pre-season.

NORTH MELBOURNE V SYDNEY
Breathe SuperCoaches.
After a weekend of rookie carnage which has threatened to throw our KFC SuperCoach plans into disarray, North Melbourne forward Curtis Taylor has provided reason for optimism.
Taylor, a $123K forward, had 21 disposals, kicked 2.1 and scored 95 KFC SuperCoach points in the Roos’ clash with Sydney on Monday.
The No. 46 pick in the 2018 national draft, Taylor featured in two matches last season for scores of 31 and 9.
It’s easy to get carried away by a pre-season effort, especially when the number of rookies likely to feature in Round 1 is dwindling by the day.
But amid the crisis, Taylor might be a silver lining.
Aiden Bonar was the other North rookie coaches were keen to see, but Rhyce Shaw held him back until after halftime in Tasmania and he posted a team-low 14.

The former GWS Giant had a hamstring scare in recent weeks and you have to wonder whether he’ll be eased into the season, as he was against the Swans.
It’s hard to justify spending $202k, even in the current barren rookie climate.
Jack Mahony, who is in the frame for a Round 1 debut, did enough by scoring 53 to justify a bench spot.
But, his scoring was always likely to be volatile, as it historically has been for rookie small forwards.
Veteran Josh Kennedy (156) led the way for Sydney, while No. 5 pick Dylan Stephens ($189K, MID) has a huge question mark over him after two quiet games.
Stephens scored 49 against the Roos, while Justin McInerney ($123k) only managed 3.

Is Stephen Coniglio in your SuperCoach team?
With an ownership of just 13 per cent, he is shaping up as the perfect point of difference selection.
Coniglio was outstanding against the Tigers, posting a game-high 135 points on Sunday.
He was one of a host of Giants to post big scores, with Toby Greene, Sam Jacobs, Lachie Whitfield and Josh Kelly all among the points.
Meanwhile for the Tigers, Tom Lynch was the only man to break triple figures.
He might not be the biggest name but one Tiger to keep an eye on is Callum Coleman-Jones.
At just $195,500, he is shaping up as a certain starter for in Round 1.

COLLINGWOOD v ST KILDA
Jeremy Howe has put his name forward as a SuperCoach left field selection after a dominant display against St Kilda.
Howe was at his marking best, clunking 11 of them in the Pies’ loss. The man who has been mostly overlooked by SuperCoach players throughout the pre-season finished with an impressive 134 points to lead all members of both sides.
Jack Crisp was also impressive for the Magpies, scoring 114. Meanwhile for St Kilda, Bradley Hill continues to impress at his new club, scoring 103.
At $515,900, Jack Steele is certainly a point of difference.
Through the Marsh Series he averaged 110 points and is currently in less than one per cent of teams.

He was one of last season’s great cashcows.
But are SuperCoaches who are overlooking Sam Walsh in 2020 making a mistake?
The rising Blue once again posted a big score on Sunday night, leading the way for Carlton with 109 points.
Walsh is currently in just five per cent of teams and costs $471,900. One thing we can always be sure about, as long as he is playing in the same midfield as Patrick Cripps, he won’t have to worry about a tag.
Meanwhile, a host of Lions filled up the scoreboard.
Lachie Neale is once again going to be a scoring machine. He posted 118 points is just 79 per cent game-time.
Charlie Cameron, Dayne Zorko and Hugh McCluggage also went large.

PORT ADELAIDE V WESTERN BULLDOGS
You should never get carried away with one performance but Tim English has the potential to live up to some lofty expectations this season in KFC SuperCoach.
Champion Data predicts the young Western Bulldogs ruckman can reach the heights of Collingwood star Brodie Grundy.
The question is: could that happen this year?
English ($448,4000) dominated Port Adelaide with 37 hit-outs on his way to a game-high 123 SuperCoach points in the Marsh Series clash.
In his first full season, the big Bulldog increased his average by nearly 20 (63.6 to 82.6) (Grundy’s year 2-3 was 62.9 to 90.6). It’s not unfathomable with another pre-season behind him and more time in the weight room, he could add another 15-20 to that in 2020.
English is going to get plenty of opportunity to operate as the Dogs’ sole man at the stoppages.
Could he be this year’s Rowan Marshall?

The guy is SuperCoach rolled gold in that West Coast midfield. Backed up a very easy ton against the Bombers in Marsh week 2 with another easy 108 against the Dockers.
Had 29 touches, but only one clearance, meaning he hardly got his hands dirty.
At $561,800 he looks unders for a player who averaged 103.5 in his first season of AFL footy.

KFC SuperCoaches should spend as much time as Simon Goodwin did answering the question on whether to pick Max Gawn for Round 1.
The Melbourne coach was asked post-match whether the club’s new skipper would be ready to face West Coast on March 22 after overcoming a knee concern.
The question: “He’s a lock for Round 1?”
The answer: “Yep”.
Gawn featured in 41 per cent game time against Hawthorn on Friday, returning seven disposals, four marks and 14 hit outs for 68 SuperCoach points.

Sometimes, pre-season form can be deceiving.
But it’s going to be very hard to ignore the work Gold Coast dual position SuperCoach prospect Darcy Macpherson is doing in the Marsh Community series.
The 22-year-old Gold Coast Sun had a breakout SuperCoach season in 2019, playing all 22 games and averaging 81.7 points per game — he managed just 17 games across the previous three season.
The average is nothing to write home about but, after backing up his 31-possession, 132-point effort in a win over Geelong in week one with another blinder in an upset win over the Crows, his SuperCoach ownership is set to skyrocket from around 2 per cent into double digits.
At 443,800 and with the MID-FWD swing, MacPherson represents a tantalising forward option who could well finish in the top six at season’s end.
