Who could be the Marlion Pickett of SuperCoach grand final week?

With the list of stars set to miss due to injury or suspension growing longer at the weekend, coaches will be scouring their benches wondering who could get a surprise call-up and play a role in the biggest game of the year.

And some big numbers in the state league give reason for hope.

Adelaide youngster Billy Dowling still features in more than 50,000 SuperCoach teams and pushed his case to replace the concussed Izak Rankine with 30 disposals in the SANFL.

Dowling, who was an emergency for the Crows on Saturday night, recorded 125 SuperCoach points against Port Adelaide from a stat line that included 14 contested possessions, seven tackles and a goal.

And there could be an unlikely SuperCoach saviour in the form of North Melbourne defender Wil Dawson.

Traded in by 58,000 coaches when he was on the bubble in round 13, Dawson was injured without scoring a point the next week, and hasn’t been seen at AFL level since.

He remains in more than 40,000 SuperCoach teams, and with key defender Charlie Comben (concussion) – and his replacement Miller Bergman (concussion) – set to miss, there is a potential opening in the side for a key back at the Roos this week.

Dawson reminded selectors of his talents with 70 SuperCoach points in the VFL from 10 disposals and 10 tackles.

Joe Richards is an outside chance of a recall at Collingwood after a 145-SuperCoach point game in the VFL from 25 disposals and two goals.

But Kynan Brown (24 disposals, 70 SuperCoach points) and Nathan Kreuger (10 disposals, one goal, 49 SuperCoach points) appear long shots at best.

In other key performances from the more than 200 AFL-listed players in action at state league level on the weekend:

ELIJAH Tastas racked up 41 disposals for Essendon’s VFL team and kicked a goal to score 140 SuperCoach points, while Will Setterfield continues to put up big numbers (27 disposals, six clearances, 127 SuperCoach points).

JACK Lukosius and Alex Sexton each kicked five goals as Gold Coast thrashed Casey by 88 points. Lukosius collected 25 disposals and 14 marks to post the best SuperCoach score at state league level – 189 points. Sexton scored 122 from 22 disposals and 11 marks, but plenty of Suns went large included Rory Atkins (157), Ned Moyle (167), Hewago Oea (160) and Brayden Fioliri (128).

MAURICE Rioli Jr helped Richmond earn a VFL Wildcard spot with 17 disposals, eight tackles and 129 SuperCoach points.

HUGO Garcia backed up after coming on as the sub late in St Kilda’s win against Geelong on Saturday night to score 100 SuperCoach points in Sandringham’s loss to the Cats on Sunday, registering 20 disposals and 10 tackles. Arie Schoenmaker also scored 100 from 29 disposals.

MELBOURNE recruit Shane McAdam kicked four goals and scored 121 points.
