Connor Rozee is set to change the look of SuperCoach defences when the next round of position changes comes into effect before round 12.

There are three more rounds before new positions are allocated based on Champion Data’s time in position data.

Rozee’s shift to defence appears certain to earn him DPP status, which on current averages would make him the seventh highest-scoring defender of 2025.

He’s not the only big name in the mix – and there are some lesser lights who could become options in SuperCoach Draft with a new position.

Here are nine names on our watch list – scroll down to search for the latest time in position numbers for every player in the AFL.

CONNOR ROZEE

Rozee has played almost exclusively as a defender since successfully being thrown back against Hawthorn in round 5. Rozee has averaged 109 since then and only dipped below 100 once — in windy conditions in Ballarat. He has taken 10 kick-ins too in the past three weeks, ranked second at Port Adelaide behind Kane Farrell. To put his average as a defender in perspective, top SuperCoach defenders Jack Sinclair (90), Dayne Zorko (87.8) and Bailey Dale (88.8) have averaged considerably less during that four-game stretch. With more than 50 per cent game time in defence, Rozee is all but certain to become a DEF-MID.

DPP chances: Likely

MARCUS BONTEMPELLI

If getting Christian Petracca as a MID-FWD wasn’t enough, imagine the Bont as a DPP. It’s unlikely but not impossible – in his three games back from injury he has played 73 per cent midfield, 25 per cent forward, and spent 2 per cent of game time in defence. A low number of games played means those numbers can move fast. Bevo, have you thought of playing the skipper at full-forward for a week?

DPP chances: Unlikely

ZACH MERRETT

The Bombers skipper flirted with FWD-MID status in the first round of DPP additions before ultimately falling short. The absence of Jye Caldwell and Darcy Parish has meant Brad Scott has had little choice but to use Merrett in the middle in the past four games. From rounds 5-8 he averaged 78 per cent CBAs with a season-high 91 per cent against North Melbourne. Unsurprisingly, that spike led to his biggest SuperCoach score of the year.

DPP chances: Unlikely

WILL ASHCROFT

Ashcroft was another gun midfielder who went close to FWD status after round 5. He has been fourth in line for much of the season behind Lachie Neale, Josh Dunkley and Hugh McCluggage and featured at a season-low 26 per cent centre bounces in the QClash. Watch this space — our forward lines could be set for another big addition.

DPP chances: Possible

JORDAN DE GOEY

Listed as a MID-only in SuperCoach this year but has played 68 per cent forward in his five games. That almost locks him in as a DPP, the only problem is he is averaging 58 this season, with a high score of 79 in round 4. He has averaged 80-plus for seven seasons before 2025, so expect a turnaround at some stage. One positive – he’s cheap at $346k.

TOUK MILLER

Miller has still been the third midfielder for the Suns in terms of CBAs despite a dip in his numbers this year. He’s playing in attack when not stationed in the middle but would need to spend a lot of time forward before round 11 to become a FWD-MID. That might rely on how Damien Hardwick wants to use Bailey Humphrey and whether Sam Flanders’ midfield time increases as he builds into the season.

DPP chances: Unlikely

NASIAH WANGANEEN-MILERA

Ross Lyon experimented with Nas the midfielder when he attended 23 per cent of CBAs in round 6 and 56 per cent in round 7. But he was back in defence full-time against Fremantle, with zero centre bounces for the game. He has played 17 per cent midfield over the season, a long way from DPP even if Ross spins the magnets again.

DPP chances: Unlikely

KYSAIAH PICKETT

Kozzie’s midfield cameos have become more regular this year, splitting his time between the forward line (45 per cent) and midfield (44 per cent) since returning in round 4. Capable of a big spike score – he posted 134 against Freo), he’s too risky for classic but could be worth a punt in SuperCoach Draft.

AARON FRANCIS

Not a name that is going to figure prominently in any trade plans but Francis is locked in to be one of the DPP changes after round 11. With the Tom McCartin experiment over he has become one of the key men in Sydney’s attack as Dean Cox tries to find the right mix.

OTHER NAMES TO WATCH

Tiger Sam Banks (39 per cent DEF) is in line to earn DPP status, and Bomber Ben Hobbs (32 per cent MID) is on the edge. Popular SuperCoach rookies Caiden Cleary (23 per cent MID) and Xavier Lindsay (22 per cent DEF) will probably miss out.

Adam Treloar played 51 per cent forward in his first game for the season but won’t play enough games to qualify for this round of DPPs. One to watch for round 18!
