Across 30 years of the NAB League Boys competition, Geelong Falcons have laid claim to being the original and best ‘Footy Factory’.
The Calder Cannons have claims on the same title when it comes to the NAB League Girls competition as they continue to churn out AFLW stars.
Having completed only its sixth season this year, the NAB League Girls competition has been a raging success as the growth of women’s football continues to explode throughout Australia.
A joint winner of the competition’s best and fairest award in its inaugural season in 2017, Chloe Molloy was the first player picked from the NAB League Girls competition — then known as the TAC Cup — at pick 3 in the 2017 AFLW draft.

Molloy has played with both the Cannons and VFLW side Diamond Creek in her draft year and has gone on to become one of Collingwood’s brightest young AFLW stars.
Monique Conti was also part of the Cannons’ crop in 2017 and was chosen with the very next selection after Molloy in the draft, at pick 4.
Conti has since played 39 AFLW games, initially with the Western Bulldogs before joining Richmond ahead of the 2020 season.
In 2018, the Geelong Falcons produced the No. 1 pick in the AFLW draft when Nina Morrison joined Geelong.
However, the Cannons again featured prominently as Maddison Prespakis found her way to Carlton at pick 3.
The Cannons had another top-five draft pick in 2019 with Georgia Patrikios joining St Kilda at pick 5, while in 2021 Georgie Prespakis found a home at Geelong with pick 2.
On the back of the NAB League Boys’ competition’s 30th anniversary, a list of the 30 best players from the NAB League Girls competition has been assembled.
The rankings are based on Champion Data ranking points, with the Cannons impressively filling the top four spots and five of the top nine positions.
The Oakleigh Chargers are also well represented in the top 30, with four players making the cut.
