Jordan De Goey on track to join Collingwood teammates in pre-season from early January

Jordan De Goey’s bid to put an injury-riddled 2024 behind him is on track, with a teammate declaring the “super fit” Magpies star is determined to get back to his matchwinning best.

Collingwood star Jordan De Goey’s meticulous return from the groin issue that plagued him last season will see him rejoin his teammates in full training next year.

The explosive midfielder has been largely separated from the main Magpie group through pre-season so far, as he worked on an individualised program after an off-season visit to Doha to get his body right.

De Goey visited Doha for a camp to work on his groin and abdomen after playing 13 games last season, with his usual powerful output diminished at times.

Since returning, he steadily built up fitness and the Magpies plan to integrate him back into the main group after the new year break.

Collingwood held its last session in sweltering heat on Monday before breaking up until 2025.

De Goey’s midfield teammate Nick Daicos told this masthead earlier this month that the 171-gamer was “super fit at the moment”.

“He is in a really good headspace and is motivated for the upcoming season. (He is) excited to get his body fit and firing and we know how good he can be,” Daicos said.

De Goey is part of a small injury list for the Pies, alongside on-ballers Tom Mitchell and Harvey Harrison.

Mitchell remains in a moonboot after reporting soreness in the foot that dogged him last season.

Collingwood has yet to confirm the next steps of recovery for the Brownlow medallist after scans confirmed a bone stress injury.

Harrison ruptured his ACL in August and has begun running and changing direction on his recovery.
