Collingwood’s TikTok stars Jack Ginnivan and Isaac Quaynor have escaped sanction for their rating game video, with the pair apologising on social media on Tuesday afternoon.

Ginnivan and Quaynor had posted a video on TikTok of them rating women.

It was a riff of the popular viral TikTok rating game.

But while the original premise of the game was light and silly, Quaynor and Ginnivan poked fun at a woman’s teeth and another woman’s homeless status.

The clubs said in a statement both players will undertake further education on the appropriate use of social media with respect to the content they create.

“Hey guys, just wanted to jump on here to apologise for the TikTok video,” Quaynor said.

“We did a trend that we did not think about before posting and we’re really sorry for making the mistake of participating in it and then posting it.

“We’ve since realised it’s not acceptable and it doesn’t align with the values both of us hold.

“We’ll keep learning about what we should and shouldn’t post as there’s a lot to learn from.”

Ginnivan added: “We’re sorry to everyone at the club across all platforms, our members, supporters, for any impact we’ve caused.

“Thanks guys and we’re so sorry again.”

THE FULL STATEMENT FROM COLLINGWOOD

Collingwood Football Club players Jack Ginnivan and Isaac Quaynor have apologised for a video posted on a social media platform.

The Club was aware of Jack Ginnivan’s since-deleted social media post where he and teammate Isaac Quaynor took part in a Tik Tok trend.

After speaking to the Club, the players understood it is not an acceptable trend to participate in and immediately removed the video from their social media platforms.

The players have apologised to everyone at the Club – across all programs – members and the wider community for the impact of their actions.

In addition to apologising, both players will undertake further education on the appropriate use of social media with respect to the content they create.

PIES DEFEND PLAYERS CAUGHT UP IN GLOBAL TIKTOK TREND

Collingwood believes its young players caught rating females on TikTok were part of a global trend as it seeks to educate its players on their responsibilities.

Jack Ginnivan and Isaac Quaynor were caught in a video lying on a bed laughingly discussing women’s features.

The pair was dragged into the Jordan De Goey furore, given his attitude on respect to women after posting the video on the weekend.

Collingwood is aware of the optics of the video in light of De Goey’s actions, as the saga drags into a fifth day after the Herald Sun revealed his nightclub antics in Bali.

But the club believes the duo was caught up in a global craze that sees men and women “re-ranking” each other.

The game was originally supposed to be light-hearted and fun, but the Collingwood pair added a more degrading element by referring to a woman with bad teeth and a woman’s homeless status.

The club believes the pair was naive not to be more aware of the context of their actions, which saw them show disrespect to women.

Ginnivan didn’t answer questions as he arrived at the club today while skipper Scott Pendlebury told reporters the Pies would make comment at some point today.

“(The club) is going to release a statement later on today,” Pendlebury said.

The viral TikTok trend, dubbed as the “rating game”, shows users rating people of the opposite sex out of 10.

The user then re-rates the imaginary person with a more specific statement about their personality, appearance or interests.

For example: “He is a two, but loves dogs”, “she is a 10, doesn’t clean her teeth” or “he’s a 10, but he truly, truly believes birds aren’t real”.

The game has been mainly used by women and shows that specific details about a person can alter one’s attraction to another.

The light-hearted and fun trend has been replicated by thousands of users online.

The players’ video quickly took on a life of its own, with the Pies players not taking into account De Goey’s actions over the weekend before posting.

They are unlikely to be dragged into De Goey’s punishment, but will be made aware of their obligations.

In the video, the pair was laughing about a woman who smells nice and a homeless woman.

“And she’s a two, but she smells really nice,” Ginnivan says.

“Three,” Quaynor responds.

“She’s a 10, but got some (indistinct) teeth, like them teeth are going every which way, diagonal, everything.”

“F---ing hell. Four,” Ginnivan responds, laughing.

“She’s a nine and a half, but is homeless,” Quaynor says.

“Two and a half,” Ginnivan says, as they laugh.

Quaynor responds to the rating, “I’m off him.”

“When she’s a four, but she’s rich,” Quaynor laughs.

“12.5,” Ginnivan says.
