Trade Daily: Aaron Hall says lure of finals, midfield role drew him to North Melbourne

AARON Hall says the lure of playing finals and the chance to play in Tasmania were behind his decision to move to North Melbourne. Re-cap all the day's breaking news and trade rumours.

AARON Hall says the prospect of playing finals was a significant factor in his decision to seek a trade to North Melbourne.

The Kangaroos have earmarked more of an inside midfield role for Hall next season to help capitalise on his breakaway pace alongside clearance king Ben Cunnington.

Hall says it was a tough decision to leave Gold Coast but was ultimately attracted to the opportunity to become a more consistent footballer under coach Brad Scott.

“I have played 100 games and haven’t looked like playing finals and that has been a massive driver for me in this decision,” Hall told the Herald Sun.

“I thought North were probably going to be down the lower part of the ladder this year, but the way the young guys came in and the way the star players performed, I reckon they have gained lot of confidence.

“Hopefully I can help make them a better team with my attributes.”

A Hobart product, Hall said he looked forward to playing home games back home in Tasmania, and was hopeful West Coast free agent Andrew Gaff would join him and Jared Polec in blue and white.

Hall, 27, said it was a frustrating final year at Gold Coast dealing with injuries but was looking forward to playing more midfield next season.

“I think I play my best football as an inside mid and Brad says he sees me as that type of player,” he said.

“I’m looking to get better and I’m looking to improve and I really think I can do that and become a more consistent player under his coaching.

“This year I had two surgeries, I broke a finger in the pre-season and missed Round 1 and then I tore my pec off the bone.

“But that’s come along well, and my eyes are set on Round 1 2019.

“I think that fresh start in new colours will probably bring the best out of me.”
