Steven Motlop visits Gold Coast as Cats and Suns try to work out deal for Gary Ablett
A DEAL for Gary Ablett could be getting closer as Geelong free agent Steven Motlop toured the Gold Coast Suns on Tuesday morning.

CATS’ speedster Steven Motlop has visited the Suns’ Metricon Stadium base this morning.
Motlop was accompanied by manager Alex McDonald and Suns list manager Scott Clayton on a two-hour tour of the facility.

The 26-year-old is close friends with Suns captain Steven May.
He has played 135 games for the Cats but has been the subject of criticism for inconsistent effort.
The Suns are considering Motlop as a trade for former skipper Gary Ablett who has wants to return to Geelong for family reasons.
Adelaide and West Coast are also believed to be in pursuit of the speedy forward.
Motlop’s interested in the Gold Coast comes after Cats coach Chris Scott declared after the side’s preliminary final loss to Adelaide that he wanted him to remain at the club.
Earlier today, former Essendon great Matthew Lloyd urged Motlop to have a look at the Suns.
Lloyd named some Cats who could potentially help clinch a deal with Ablett, saying he believed there were four players that could satisfy the club.
“Wylie Buzza — he’s from Queensland — he could be a key forward or a ruckman for them,” he told AFL Trade Radio.
“Another is Sam Menegola, he’s a player who racks it up and kicks goals.
“Obviously you’ve got Steven Motlop, who’d they’d take ... if you’re Steve Motlop there’s no harm touring the facilities,” he said.
“I think that’s what you should do.”
