HAWTHORN has been dealt a major injury blow as it aims to avoid a straight sets finals exit.
Star midfielder Jaeger O’Meara is out of Friday night’s semi-final clash with Melbourne due to a knee injury.
The Hawks revealed O’Meara received a knock during the qualifying final loss to Richmond and despite playing out the game, pulled up sore this week.

Hawthorn had already lost star defender Ben Stratton to a hamstring injury and dropped ruckman Jon Ceglar, recalling David Mirra, Taylor Duryea and Ryan Schoenmakers.
Melbourne is unchanged for the clash on the back of a strong elimination final win over Geelong.
Collingwood is also unchanged as it prepares to host GWS in Saturday’s semi-final.
The Magpies resisted bringing Ben Reid back for the clash after the swingman was named as an emergency while Callum Brown’s scintillating VFL form didn’t earn him a place.
After battling a knee injury all week, the Giants confirmed Josh Kelly would miss the MCG clash as Harry Perryman was dropped.
Ryan Griffen replaces Kelly while Lachie Keeffe comes in to face his former club.
Earlier, Hawthorn coach Alastair Clarkson spoke about the task of stopped Demons giant Max Gawn.
“(Gawn) has obviously been a pivotal player for them but just because he plays particularly well or wins the hit outs doesn’t necessarily mean they always win the game,” Clarkson said.
It's a big issue. So how does @HawthornFC coach Alastair Clarkson plan to tackle Dees star Max Gawn?

“We need to do our best to compete as hard as we can in that part of the ground and if we do we give ourselves a chance.
“He was influential in terms of hit outs in Round 4 but we won by 10 goals.
“Three or four weeks ago he doubled the hit outs of the Sydney ruckman and Sydney still win the game.
“It’s not a direct correlation between him winning hit outs and them winning games but obviously if he’s giving first supply and they’re winning a lot of clearances then it’s something of concern for us.”
