MELBOURNE has received a major boost on the eve of its breakthrough finals series with co-captain Jack Viney a willing participant in today’s solid hitout at Goschs Paddock.
Viney spent 30 minutes with the rehabilitation group, along with Dom Tyson, before joining teammates for the remainder of the two-hour session to the rapturous applause of hundreds of
Melbourne fans that braved the brisk start to spring.

Viney has battled foot problems throughout the season but the ball-winner’s return, six days out of Melbourne cutthroat elimination final, will give the midfield its best chance of matching motors with nemesis Geelong.
Melbourne forward Jake Melksham said Viney would train with the team all next week to prepare for the Cats.
“He trained with us today for the first time since coming out of rehab,” Melksham said.
“We know what Jack’s going to bring every week, there’s no doubt when he plays he lifts us and he definitely picks up around the ball which we love.
“We were joking that he timed it well, he’s sat around on his bum for 23 weeks and let us slog it out and now he’s going to reap the rewards.”
The Dees were without Jordan Lewis (illness) today, while injured teammate Bernie Vince, who announced his retirement during the week, has also been quarantined with the common cold.
