Hawthorn legend Luke Hodge’s career has moved from the footy field to the commentary box, the four-time premiership star joining the Seven coverage.

The dual-Norm Smith medallist is no stranger to television sets, having enjoyed regular spots on Seven’s broadcasts and even, at times, providing midgame comments during his twilight years in Brisbane.

“I’m really excited,” Hodge said.

“Commentary was something I wanted to do when I finished as a player.

“I’ve always wanted to stay in football, so to be able to commentate and stay in the game is something I’m really looking forward to.”

Meanwhile, SEN Radio has unveiled Dwayne Russell as its new afternoon host.

The former 3AW host will move to SEN next year with Dwayne's World to be heard from 12pm-3pm.

Russell has signed a multi-year deal with the sports network where he will also be a play-by-play commentator as part of its AFL call team.

His versatility will be on show with the former Port Adelaide and Geelong footballer to also call Australian Open tennis, NBL and Big Bash cricket.

Russell's replacement on Sportsday, which he has co-hosted with Gerard Healy for the past 15 years, is yet to be announced.

His first afternoon show on SEN will be on January 13.
