FATHER-son guns, some left-field bolters and lots of live trading wrapped up the 2018 national draft.

After the first round was completed on Thursday night, the draft continued today as the event was staged over two days for the first time.

And clubs used their later picks to get creative, with a series of mature-age players plucked from state leagues around the country; St Kilda alone added three to its list.

The father-son romance continued with Rhylee West (Western Bulldogs), Will Kelly (Collingwood), Ben Silvagni (Carlton), Joel Crocker (North Melbourne), Oscar Brownless (Geelong), Bailey Scott (North Melbourne) joining the clubs where their fathers became famous.

Continuing the family theme, Brisbane drafted Jarrod Berry's brother Tom, Brodie Grundy's little brother Riley is now at Port Adelaide and the Magpies selected Atunaisa Bosenavulagi, the great nephew (by marriage) of the club's cheer squad leader Jeff 'Joffa' Corfe.

Essendon snared exciting indigenous forward Irving Mosquito from under Hawthorn's nose, making an early bid which the Hawks opted not to match.

And Carlton ended the draft with another surprise, handing rookie lifelines to delisted Saint Hugh Goddard and axed Demon Tom Bugg.
