GOLD Coast co-captain Steven May has avoided suspension for the round-arm strike which levelled star Kangaroo Shaun Higgins on Sunday.

The AFL today handed May a $2000 fine for the heavy blow to Higgins’ stomach which gifted the Roos an easy goal in the third term. Match review officer Michael Christian assessed the incident as intentional conduct with low impact to the body.
