Luke Beveridge says he couldn’t deny fan a post-match selfie despite Bulldogs defeat
WESTERN Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has opened up on that strange post-match selfie with a fan on Friday night, saying he couldn’t really say no despite his side’s defeat.
WESTERN Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge has opened up on that strange post-match selfie with a fan on Friday night, saying it is unlikely to happen again.
Beveridge was stopped by a woman as he left the coaches’ box at Adelaide Oval following the Bulldogs’ 37-point loss to Adelaide and posed for a selfie, the moment caught on television cameras. “It’s always really flattering. The selfie’s the new autograph, isn’t it?,” Beveridge said. “The young lady yelled out. I thought I must have known her, someone in Adelaide wanting to talk to me. As I turned around she said, ‘Can I have a selfie, you’re my favourite coach’. She didn’t have any colours on so I didn’t know what team she barracked for but how can you deny that? You know how you flip it around with the selfie, she couldn’t flip it around so there was a bit of think music there for a while and then she said, ‘C’mon, smile’ and I couldn’t help her unfortunately. But maybe she can grab me after a win, maybe on Friday night, and we’ll get one with a smile on it.” Asked if he had set a new precedent for losing coaches, Beveridge said it is likely to go down as a one-off. “The other coaches probably hope not,” he said. “I don’t know if it will happen again.” LIVE stream every match of every round of the 2018 Toyota AFL Premiership Season on FOX SPORTS.
