NORTH Melbourne coach Brad Scott still can’t put a date on Jarrad Waite’s return from a calf injury while the Kangaroos have picked up an NBA fitness guru who worked with LeBron James. RE-CAP TODAY’S NEWS
NORTH Melbourne veteran Jarrad Waite’s future remains unclear, with Brad Scott unable to forecast when he will return from a calf injury.
Waite, 35, has been injury plagued throughout his 240-game career and has been on the sidelines since withdrawing from his side’s Round 11 clash with Brisbane. “In his case, a calf is different to a lot of other injuries, particularly where he has strained his calf,” Scott said. RE-CAP ALL THE ACTION IN THE LIVE BLOG BELOW “To say we don’t know (when he will return) is not exactly true, but to say we know with absolute certainty when he’s going to be back is not true either. “Once he’s at that stage of running and full training then it’s a lot easier for us to put a return date on it. “It’s probably a shorter term horizon than a longer term, but with his age and injury history we just want to be sure.” Waite will be out of contract at the end of 2018 and talks of him playing on next season are currently on hold. “We’ve been talking to our players who are at that stage of their careers really regularly on just focusing on the now,” Scott said. “At times you probably start to think ‘what about the future?’ but ... Waitey’s just focusing on his rehab and getting back as soon as possible.” Watch every match of every round of the 2018 Toyota AFL Premiership Season. SIGN UP NOW >
