AFL 2020: Paul Connors fined for unsanctioned training camp
Paul Connors – the player agent to some of the AFL’s biggest names – has been fined by the AFLPA after holding an unsanctioned training camp at Sorrento for draft prospects.

Leading AFL player agent Paul Connors has been fined after hosting a mini training camp for some of this year’s draft prospects in breach of agent rules.
The AFL Player’s Association last night slapped Connors with a $7500 fine ($5000 suspended for 24 months) after it’s Agent Accreditation Board (AAB) found the camp had breached the Agents’ Code of Conduct.

Both 2020 and 2021 draft prospects took part in the private training camp in Sorrento last month, some of whom had not yet signed as clients of Connors Sports.
The code prohibits an agent from providing a benefit or other thing of value to a player in anticipation of the player signing a Standard Player Agent Agreement.
The AAB noted that “Connors has a long history of good behaviour under the regulations” in determining the sanction.

Connors, who has signed this year’s likely No. 1 draft pick Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, admitted the breach and accepted the sanction.
The camp had been designed to give recruiters a look at Victorian players in the absence of the cancelled NAB League under-18s competition this year.
