NAT Fyfe might have been crowned Fremantle's Doig medallist but the star on-baller believes he's far from the finished product.

Fyfe, one of Fremantle's best players in the Grand Final loss to Hawthorn despite missing three shots on goal, said working on his skills would be his main focus over the pre-season.

"My skills need to improve and continue to improve. That's something that I've been working on and will continue to work on,'' he said.

"And just the all-round nature of my game. Continuing to have more versatility so I can play forward and potentially play back - hopefully not that much.''

The Dockers endured a punishing two-and-a-half-hour session at Fremantle Oval this morning.

Veteran trio Aaron Sandilands, Matthew Pavlich and Luke McPharlin are all entering the final year of their contracts and are in the twilight of their outstanding careers but Fyfe was adamant it is not 2014 or bust for the club's hopes of a breakthrough premiership.

"Not at all. Our older contingency is really strong still and really fit,'' he said.

"You see Pav and Aaron and Luke McPharlin running out there today, they're still fit and able bodies.

"As some guys go, new guys come in and our drafting team in recent years, they know what they're doing, so our window's definitely not closed.''

Spirits appeared high at today's session and Fyfe said the players had now put the Grand Final loss to the back of their minds.

"It really is old news when you butter up with a heap of new kids on the track,'' he said.

"It really is a completely new season. We'll definitely take lessons from that game and we've probably still got some reviewing to do, but new year, new faces around so fresh start.''
