‘Disgraceful’: Bulldogs great Scott West roasts coach Luke Beveridge for player management
A Western Bulldogs great has roasted Luke Beveridge over the coach’s “disgraceful management” of his son in a deleted social media post.

AFL great Scott West has roasted Western Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge over the “disgraceful management” of his son Rhylee.
In a deleted social media post, West blasted the Bulldogs coach for not picking his son for Sunday’s contest against Carlton.

Rhylee was selected under the father-son rule at the 2018 national draft, and has since played 10 games for the Bulldogs.
The 20-year-old featured in the round seven match against the Richmond Tigers, but was dropped from the side’s 22 after an underwhelming performance in which he contributed two behinds, two tackles and five disposals.
He was named as the Bulldogs medical substitution for Sunday’s match at Marvel Stadium, but was not required in the 16-point victory.
Commenting on a Facebook post, West questioned the decision to keep Jason Johannisen in the team after the midfielder recorded just five disposals against the Tigers.
“Well done Beveridge,” West wrote. “That’s how you manage young players.
“Yep he is my son but seriously you make him wait for 5 weeks, all of excellent form and stats in the VFL.
“You play him against the best team of the last 5 years and yep, didn’t play well, BUT, then you drop him.
“Absolutely disgraceful management!
“It’s not personal against (Jason Johannisen), but 3 possessions? Are you serious?
“Let me add (Josh) Schache to this argument, poor kid gets kicked in the guts by everyone, apparently it is his and Rhylee’s fault they lost last week.”

West was a seven-time best and fairest winner for the Bulldogs, playing 324 games for the club in an illustrious 16-year career.
He is a five-time All-Australian and member of the Australian Football Hall of Fame.
