Collingwood premiership defender Brayden Maynard has been involved in a second traffic accident in just over 12 months after an incident in a bayside Melbourne suburb on Thursday morning.

Maynard, 28, was unhurt after he collided with a ute in Brighton.

Collingwood confirmed the All-Australian backman and the occupants of the ute all avoided injuries and Maynard was in no doubt for Saturday night’s clash with Port Adelaide.

“Fortunately, neither Brayden nor the passengers in the other vehicle were hurt in the accident,” Collingwood football boss Charlie Gardiner said.

“Speaking with Brayden this morning, this was an unfortunate accident, but thankfully he and the other driver and passenger were OK.”

Maynard was expected to train with his teammates on Friday and then line up against Port at the MCG.

Maynard was also involved in a morning traffic accident in January last year when his vehicle collided with another car on the Mornington Peninsula Freeway.

Both drivers also walked away unharmed form that incident that the club called “very minor”, although Maynard did miss a pre-season training session as a result.

Maynard played in the Magpies’ season-opening loss to GWS last Sunday having overcome an injury niggle.

Collingwood will be chasing their first win of the season when they lock horns with the Power at the MCG on Saturday night.
