Hawthorn and Sydney Swans great Buddy Franklin is ensuring his luxurious Gold Coast home is as prepared as possible for Tropical Cyclone Alfred’s arrival on Friday morning, with his wife Jesinta documenting the 38-year-old’s efforts to cyclone-proof their home.
The AFL legend’s wife posted several videos to her Instagram account on Wednesday and Thursday showing her husband cleaning the gutters and preparing for the incoming cyclone.

With ominous clouds in the background, Jesinta posted a video of her husband with the caption “gutters done” as she showcased to her large social media following how her family are preparing their home for the incoming natural disaster.
The former Miss Universe Australia winner also shared clips of the huge waves battering Burleigh Heads as she picked up children Tullulah, five, and Rocky, four, from school.
“It’s starting to get heavy now. Stay safe everyone. Praying this isn’t as bad as what they think it will be,” she wrote in another post.
The Franklins also were seen stocking up on new board and card games as they plan to see out the cyclone in their Reedy Creek mansion which they forked out $8.75 million for in 2022.
The other concern for Franklin and his family will be any damage that occurs to the home as a result of the cyclone, as they have been recently trying to sell their slice of paradise to upgrade to a larger home.
Franklin stated last year after putting their home on the market that with their children growing up they have decided to shift to luxury farm life.
The Franklins took their home to auction last year, but it was passed in for $11 million, with the pair intending to relist the home in 2025 as long as it isn’t hit too badly by the incoming cyclone.
But they aren’t the only famous family in the crosshairs of Cyclone Alfred.
Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth and Channel 9’s Karl Stefanovic both have multimillion-dollar properties in the cyclone’s path.
Former tennis champion Pat Rafter and ex-PM Kevin Rudd and his wife Therese Rein also have properties under threat.
Cyclone Alfred has slowed down considerably as it moves towards the Queensland coast and may not even make landfall on Friday.
The latest Bureau of Meteorology modelling from Thursday suggests Alfred could cross the coast as late as Saturday morning – some 24 hours later than first expected.
