North Melbourne will host the AFLW grand final if it can win through to the premiership playoff after the league clarified the seedings on Tuesday morning.

There had been some confusion around which club would be hosting the grand final on Sunday December 3, following the losses of home and away top seeds Melbourne and Adelaide last weekend.

But a statement from the AFL on Tuesday morning confirmed the two winning teams from the qualifying finals – North Melbourne and Brisbane – would now be automatically ranked as No. 1 and No. 2 heading into the preliminary finals.

As the Kangaroos finished ahead of the Lions at the end of the home and away seasons, they would be granted a home grand final if they can get past next week’s preliminary final against the winner of Adelaide-Sydney.

Brisbane would host a grand final if it wins its preliminary final against the winner of Geelong and Melbourne, but only if North Melbourne loses its next game.
