Geelong has received a double blow from the match review with Mark Blicavs and Jhye Clark both receiving one-match suspensions.
Clark and Blicavs are set to miss the clash against Richmond on Saturday night at GMHBA Stadium for their respective high bumps on GWS Giants’ star Lachie Whitfield.
In separate incidents, Clark and Blicavs both made high contact with Whitfield during Saturday afternoon’s loss which was Geelong’s fourth-straight defeat for the first time since 2006.
The suspensions will deepen the Cats’ midfield woes against the Tigers with Mark O’Connor, Shaun Mannagh and Brandon Parfitt all likely to be considered to replace the Cats’ duo.
The AFL graded the incidents as careless conduct, high contact and medium impact, triggering a one-match ban.
Blicavs is one of the Cats’ most important players and one of the most versatile talls in the league, while Clark is one of Geelong’s most promising young playmakers.
