Adelaide is “hopeful” young gun Zac Taylor has avoided serious injury after hobbling off the track on Wednesday morning.

Taylor went down on Wednesday morning and was helped off by trainers.

There were initial fears the 21-year old had suffered a knee injury, however the Crows have confirmed Taylor instead hurt his hip.

“The word’s not confident, but we’re hopeful he’ll be okay,” coach Matthew Nicks said.

“It was a hip as well, careful we don’t talk too much about knees but he twisted through his hip.

“We’ll have to wait 24 hours or so just to make sure but we’re pretty confident he’ll be okay.

“He’s right around the mark, he and a couple of others are pushing for selection in AFL and as I said we’re confident he’ll come through this one okay.”

The 21-year-old has been in fine form in the SANFL in 2024, however has not played at senior level.

Taylor suffered a serious foot injury in the SANFL last year, with his foot caught in a tackle in round four against South Adelaide.

The result of the tackle was a ruptured Lisfranc ligament, causing Taylor to undergo major surgery and miss the rest of the season.

Taylor has averaged 18.7 disposals, 5.7 clearances and 4.7 tackles across his six games of SANFL football in 2024, improving on his 14.5 touches and 4.8 clearances across four games in 2023.

Taylor is yet to make his debut at Adelaide after being taken with the 44th pick in the 2021 draft, and comes out of contract at the end of 2025.

In more positive news, Nick Murray is set to return from his ACL injury, with the defender coming back through the SANFL.
