Aaron Shattock’s family has provided the latest on the health of the former Brisbane Lions premiership player after he was crushed by an excavator on the Gold Coast last month.

Aaron Shattock remains in intensive care after “successful” surgery on Thursday as his family has provided the latest update on the health of the former Brisbane Lions premiership player.
Shattock was crushed by an excavator when it rolled on top of him on the Gold Coast in December, and is being treated at Gold Coast University Hospital.
An outpouring of support for Shattock, who has a strong connection to the Labrador Tigers dating back to 2007, followed the incident.
“Aaron remains sedated and in intensive care at Gold Coast University Hospital,” the family’s statement read.
“He underwent surgery today to treat his fractured ribs and broken/dislocated arm, which was successful. We remain hopeful for his recovery and will continue to provide updates as he makes progress.”
The news comes after the family’s previous update on Christmas Day, when they said at the time that he was in a “critical but stable” condition.
At Labrador, Shattock was a player, assistant and head coach, as well as committee member. He is a life member of the QAFL club .
“Our family is grateful for the ongoing support, love and prayers from everyone,” the statement continued.
“Your kindness means the world to us and continues to give us strength during this time.”
