White Christians apparently unworthy of protection

AUSTRALIA will resettle nearly 20,000 refugees of all colours and creeds in the next year. Yet Leftists are up in arms at the prospect of a handful of brutalised whites being included, writes Miranda Devine.

South Africa demands Peter Dutton withdraw white farmer comments

PETER Dutton is being slammed as a racist for considering refugee protection for persecuted white South African farmers, even as that country’s parliament voted to seize land from white farmers without compensation, and opposition leader Julius Malema urged his followers to “cut a white man”.

The Home Affairs minister last week told “Miranda Live” that his department is looking at ways to help the farmers who are being murdered, tortured and hounded off their land.

“I do think, on the information I’ve seen, people do need our help and they need help from a civilised country like ours… If you look at the footage and read the stories, you hear the accounts, it’s a horrific circumstance they face.”

That’s the proper response to the plight of our Commonwealth cousins.

Yet anti-white venom has spewed ever since from Dutton’s critics.

Osman Faruqi, an editor at left-wing news site Junkee and son of a Greens MP, wrote on twitter that Dutton “has declared Australia for whites only”.

Faruqi regularly churns out racist insults against “white people” on Twitter, yet poses as an anti-racism campaigner.

He was joined on the ABC last week by Shireen Morris from the Cape York Institute who declared immigration policy was “run on the personal prejudicial claims of Peter Dutton.

“It’s… like we’re still in White Australia policy days.”

Labor MP Anne Aly chimed in on Sky News: “In my mind if Peter Dutton has acknowledged there are persecuted minorities and Australia can do something for persecuted minorities I would hope that offer extends to all persecuted minorities, not just white South Africans.”

The ignorance is breathtaking.

Australia will settle 18,750 refugees or “persecuted minorities” in 2018-19. They come from Iraq, Syria, Myanmar, Afghanistan, Somalia, and other benighted countries. What’s wrong with including a few persecuted white South African farmers? There’s no rule in our refugee program that says “whites and Christians need not apply”.

Yet this is what Dutton’s critics seem to want.

If you don’t think white farmers in South Africa are at risk of racist genocide, you don’t understand history.

If you don’t care, then there’s something wrong with you.
