Sellout Sam Dastyari is finished

IT’S obvious that Senator Sam Dastyari is not fit to sit in the parliament, writes Peta Credlin. And the only person who can’t see he’s finished is Bill Shorten.

LAST week Bill Shorten came dangerously close to failing the character test that all potential prime ministers have to pass when he misread the public mood on Senator Sam Dastyari and put his short-term political self-interest ahead of the long-term national interest.

For months Shorten has been revelling in the government’s discomfort over the dual citizenship crisis.

He kept throwing stones, all the while knowing, or surely suspecting, he was living in a glass house himself. It turns out that frontbencher Katy Gallagher and Shorten ally David Feeney (and three other lower house Labor MPs) are also likely to be punted from the parliament.

It’s as obvious as the nose on your face that Dastyari is not a fit and proper person to sit in the parliament. He’s an Aussie version of the “Cash for Questions” scandal that ended once promising political careers in the UK — although there is no evidence Dastyari accepted bribes as the UK politicians did.

The senator didn’t just take donations from someone close to the Chinese communist government; he had his personal debts paid, he warned Beijing’s man he was under surveillance, and he initially lied about what he’d said.

The only person who can’t see that Sellout Sam is finished is Bill Shorten.
