How Biden’s denial exposes the hypocrisy of the Left

For years Democrats have shouted at us to believe all women. But as soon as the name on women’s lips is their presidential nominee, the tune changes. How predictable, writes Miranda Devine.

What would a Biden presidency look like?

What a surprise.

The US Senate has just rejected Joe Biden’s request to release any records of a sexual assault complaint against him by a former staffer.

It was never a serious request, just a ploy by the Democrats’ presidential hopeful to feign transparency before a car crash interview on MSNBC last week. It fell apart immediately when the National Archives said it had no such records.

His response is: ‘Don’t believe her! I’m innocent!’

What happened to the “Believe all women” mantra of the MeToo movement which he champions?

Having spent his entire career zealously pursuing the sexual misconduct of others and eroding due process for the accused, Biden now is hoist with his own petard.

In 1991, he was the repulsively condescending chair of the House judiciary committee who led the “hi-tech lynching” against Justice Clarence Thomas over trumped-up harassment claims.

He was the sanctimonious architect of the Obama administration’s “Title IX” redefinition of sexual consent on campus that demonised a generation of young men.

And he piled on the “Believe all women” bandwagon in 2018 when activists branded Justice Brett Kavanaugh, a family man with a spotless reputation, a “rapist” on the strength of baseless allegations from a baby-voiced Christine Blasey Ford.

So confident by then was Biden in his mantle as “champion of women” that he called for an FBI investigation against Kavanaugh and praised Blasey Ford’s “enormous courage. [She] should be given the benefit of the doubt.”

But now “Believe all women” is inconvenient for the Democrats, as the feminist left rallies around Biden.

Everyone with eyes can see the hypocrisy as clearly as they can see something is not quite right in all the video clips of Biden inappropriately touching, kissing, hugging and sniffing women and young girls in public.

Nancy Pelosi, Hillary Clinton, Alyssa Milano, Kirsten Gillibrand and the rest of the MeToo firebrands, by their own logic, have become the evil “rape apologists” they accused fair-minded Kavanaugh defenders of being.

The Democrats’ predicament was prophesied by Kavanaugh in his impassioned Senate testimony.

“The consequences will extend long past my nomination … And as we all know, in the United States political system of the early 2000s, what goes around comes around … You sowed the wind. For decades to come, I fear that the whole country will reap the whirlwind.”

Thanks to Biden, the mantra of the MeToo movement has collapsed under its own rotten contradictions.

Karma is a bitch.
