Channel 10 to air The Bachelor: The Senior Years

EXCLUSIVE: Keen to capitalise on ratings success enjoyed by The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, TV executives have announced a spin off which will star love-seekers aged over 65.

It’s the show responsible for bringing love to the lives of many beautiful young couples, and now The Bachelor will play cupid for an older demographic.

Keen to capitalise on the huge ratings success enjoyed by the popular reality series The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, television executives have given the green light to a spin off which will feature romance seekers aged 65 and over.

While the glamorous casts of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette feature men and women aged in their 20s and 30s, the lonely hearts set to star in The Bachelor: The Senior Years will be of a more mature vintage.

Casting agents are already on the lookout for a suitable gentleman to debut as Australia’s first senior Bachelor, while production staff have been asked to nominate any friends and family who might be interested in starring as one of the women who tries to steal his heart.

“This is a great opportunity for anyone who has a widowed grandma or grandpa to help them find love again in their twilight years,” a source close to the series told RendezView. “Romance doesn’t simply disappear in old age, so why shouldn’t older Australians get a chance to find love again?”

Producers are hoping the prospect of temporarily moving out of a retirement home to live in the luxurious Bachelor mansion for the duration of the show being filmed will convince prospective candidates to sign up.

The Bachelor: The Senior Years is expected to air on Channel 10 later this year.

UPDATE

Yes, you guessed it, this was an April Fool’s Day joke. Unfortunately, The Bachelor: The Senior Years is nothing more than a figment of our imagination.

There might be hope that the joke eventually becomes reality, however, with a Network Ten spokesperson telling RendezView: “Sadly there is no truth to this story but it is a great idea. You just might be onto something.”
