Von Bibra Group auto mall: First look at Coomera car yard and residential development next to M1

An empty waterfront site will be transformed into the northern Gold Coast’s largest car dealership, with plans to build residential units overlooking the property.

Gold Coast housing prices skyrocket

A site next to the M1 at Coomera will be transformed into the northern Gold Coast’s largest car dealership, with plans to build residential units overlooking the property.

Construction has begun on the new “state-of-the-art” von Bibra Group auto mall, which will be built on a 55,000 sqm site on Dreamworld Parkway.

Designed by Brisbane-based firm Wim Architects, it is being built by Gold Coast construction company Alder.

Wade von Bibra, the group’s managing director, said the automall was just the beginning of the three-stage project.

“The 55,000 sqm block will be transformed into a one-stop shop for drivers enabling them to buy a new car, or service and maintain their vehicle just off the M1 at Coomera,” he said.

“Not only will the auto mall service the entire northern end of the Gold Coast, the upcoming second and third stage will include residential waterfront townhouses and a combined residential and commercial precinct to meet the rapidly growing demand for housing and services in the area. This project is highly anticipated for the booming northern Gold Coast and we are elated to see it under construction.”

The first stage of the project, taking in the automall, is expected to be completed by late 2025. The full development, including the residential and retail stages, is earmarked for a five-year turnaround with a 2029 finish.

It is expected to create 150 jobs once completed.

Mr von Bibra said it would deliver “more than 3000 vehicles per year and servicing in excess of 25,000 vehicles in the same time frame.”

Alder construction division CEO Dean Cheffers said more than $5.3m of roadworks would occur.

While Alder’s geographical footprint has expanded exponentially in the past few years with projects taking off along the east coast as far north as Airlie Beach and into NSW it is refreshing to be working on such a monumental development so close to our home base at Helensvale,” says Mr Cheffers.

“With this development marking the fifth auto mall for the von Bibra Auto Group we are excited to be working with this evolving company to see this expansive project take shape and develop into what is set to be a well used service for the northern suburbs and beyond.”

Alder is also completing a $2.6m upgrade of von Bibra’s Ashmore showrooms on Southport-Nerang Road.
