Top agents: Cairns’ best sellers revealed

The heavy hitters in the Cairns real estate game have been revealed by an exclusive realestate.com.au ranking with a husband and wife both making the top five for median sold price.

The heavy hitters in the Cairns real estate game have been revealed by an inaugural realestate.com.au ranking with a husband and wife both making the top five for median sold price.

According to the property website, Caroline Yarr of Queensland Sotheby’s International Realty Port Douglas was number one for sold price in the Cairns region.

She chalked up a median of $1.825 million based on results declared on realestate.com.au over the year to March and excluding off market and private sales.

Ms Yarr has more than 20 years of experience selling luxury property in Port Douglas.

The senior sales executive had a background in sales and marketing before settling in Port Douglas.

One of her top recent sales was a golf course villa at 17/4-10 Escape St, Port Douglas, which sold for $3.45 million in April.

Coming in at number two, with a median sold price of $1,196,983, was Nicholas Slatyer, principal of Belle Property Cairns.

The multi-award winning agent specialised in premium property from Palm Cove to Cairns South and sold a four-bedroom apartment, at 1101/27 Wharf St, Cairns, for $2.13 million in December, 2022.

Million-dollar shouse hits FNQ market

Mr Slatyer has lived in Far North Queensland since 2003 and works in partnership with his wife, Renae Slatyer.

Husband and wife, Nathan and Jenna Shingles of FNQ Hot Property, took out third and fifth place with median sold prices of $1,171,188 and $1,068,111 respectively.

The couple have sold a number of premium properties together in the past year with Ms Shingles the lead agent on the $4.25 million sale of 3 Ragamuffin Quay, Trinity Park, and Mr Shingles the primary agent on the $3.5 million sale of nearby 12 Ragamuffin Quay.

A former sailor in the Royal Australian Navy, Mr Shingles is president of the Cairns RSL sub branch and a qualified Justice of the Peace.

Ms Shingles is also community minded, taking part in Variety Jet Treks and sponsoring Ronald McDonald House NQ and various community sport teams.

Taking out fourth place was Tony Soltys of Ray White Port Douglas with a median sold price of $1,103,286.

Mr Soltys has three decades of experience as a real estate agent and an extensive background in property design and development.

The experienced agent focuses on Port Douglas and achieved a $3.4 million sold price for 1/29 Murphy St in September last year.
