Ruben Laubscher has been working as a real estate agent in Sydney’s Hills Shire, primarily in North Kellyville and Beaumont Hills, for just over a year.

Mr Laubscher said he always knew real estate would be the career for him because it combines his love of marketing, property and people.

“The thing I love most about my job is simply having the opportunity to communicate with hundreds of different people every week and listening to what their motivations are for selling their current home or for buying their next home,” he said.

“You get to meet so many great people who you can learn so much from. I think real estate is one of the only professions where you can get that.

“The fulfilment you get from a happy vendor after a successful campaign or the happiness on a first home buyers face who’s just bought their family home after years of hard work and saving is unmatched.”

Vivian Zhang — Morton

Vivian Zhang started working as a local real estate agent in Wentworth Point and Macquarie Park in 2021.

Ms Zhang said the knowledge of how stressful selling or buying a property can be, coupled with the opportunity to meet people from all walks of life, is what she loves about her job.

“The main reason for me to become a real estate agent is that I can help people with my professional knowledge when they are facing difficulty in selling and buying property. Also, real estate agent is a very disciplined and energy job, which motivated me to keep bettering myself every day,” she said.

“I love my job is because that I like to talk with people from different backgrounds, and I want to know them and provide the honest and transparent property market insight for them to make their best decision.”

Sam Radal — Ayre

A Sydney CBD local, Sam Radal joined Ayre Real Estate in the middle of this year, previously having worked in mortgage broking and health care.

Mr Radal said his aspiration to become a real estate agent began when he was only a teenager.

“When I was 13 years old, my family went through a difficult separation,” he said. “At the time, my mother was pregnant with my little brother and my sister was five-years-old when the banks had repossessed our newly built home in Glenwood.”

“During this time, we met a local real estate agent who helped my mum secure a rental duplex in Blacktown. It was the first time I had met a real estate agent and I remember thinking what a great service he provided during such a turbulent time for our family.

“Fast forward to (now) … in 2022, I find that I am genuinely passionate about property. I enjoy the learning and it’s exciting to help people turn pages in their lives through the selling or buying process.”

Bianca Field – Ray White

Bianca Field has worked as a real estate agent for a little over two years, covering inner Sydney and inner west suburbs such as Glebe, Chippendale, Newtown and Enmore.

Ms Field said she always knew she wanted to be a real estate agent because of the profession’s competitive nature.

“I knew I wanted to sell property from the age of eight years old because my dad and I would attend open homes in my local area and I would look forward to watching auctions unfold,” Ms Field said. “My parents had a passion for flipping houses, so I guess maybe it’s in the blood.”

“I like to win, whether that be winning a listing, selling a home at auction, or negotiating for a buyer at another agent’s auction. I love celebrating wins and celebrating on your own is never as much fun as celebrating with others, whether that be hitting a dream figure with my vendor, assisting in a purchase with a buyer who has spent months on a disheartening search or knocking out personal growth records with my sales team.”

Ferenc Goemoeri — Morton

After starting out studying architecture, Ferenc Goemoeri made the switch to real estate in March 2021 and hasn’t looked back since.

Mr Goemoeri currently works in Sydney’s lower north shore, Twin Creeks and Luddenham.

“Selling and buying property is always stressful,” he said. “Being able to guide people through an emotional journey like this and help them set their life up for a new chapter is priceless.”

“There is one specific area I am very proud of as opposed to a specific sale, and that is Twin Creeks in Luddenham. Since October 2021, my colleague Konstantin Melnikov and I started working in the area and we have been able to increase the selling price significantly. We have set a suburb record of $6.1 million and a record by square metre. Overall we have sold over 18 properties and been able maintain a $3.3 million average sale price for the suburb.”

Alex Jarrett has been working as a real estate agent in Sydney’s Hills Shire for three years.

He said it was his school’s career night which first sparked his interest in the profession.

“I was attracted to the idea of each day being something different, learning on the job rather than taking the traditional university path,” he said. “Each day is a fresh challenge and presents a new opportunities to grow my career and business. It is a career that requires great dedication and rewards those who put in the time and effort.”

Rachel McCarthy – Morton

Rachel McCarthy has worked as a real estate agent in Penrith for only eleven months.

Despite working in the field for less than a year, she has already negotiated 47 sold properties and listed five for sale.

Ms McCarthy said she made the switch from a management position because she felt she’d outgrew the field of work she was previously in.

“I have always considered myself a peoples person and someone who strives off kicking goals and hitting targets,” she said. “Upon researching real estate I couldn’t imagine a more perfect career that complimented my attributes and so I gained my certificate and applied as soon as I could.”

“There is no better feeling then being able to assist people during such a significant time in their lives whether its buying or selling real estate and seeing their smile and excitement once its all done. I also love being able to meet different people every day and build relationships with some that will last a lifetime.”

Ricky Hundal – First National

Ricky Hundal has worked as a real estate agent in Oran Park, and surrounding southwest Sydney suburbs, for only one year.

Mr Hundal said it was his own experience searching for a home of his own which led him to decide to switch careers and become a real estate agent.

Since making the switch, he has completed ten sales and said each property was unique in its rewards and challenges.

“(I love my job) because I am surrounded by highly driven and positive people who honestly care about the people around them and the community in which they work and live,” he said.

Declan Fallah – Ray White

Declan Fallah finished his HSC at the end of 2020 and launched straight into a real estate career. He has been employed full-time since January 2021 — so despite his young age has already racked up almost two years experience on the job.

He is currently based in the Sutherland Shire, mainly selling properties in Sylvania and Kareela.

Mr Fallah said he was drawn to a career in real estate and sales because of his outgoing personality.

“I am not afraid of speaking to people as well as always having a positive attitude,” he said. “(I also love) the thrill and adrenaline of getting a deal across the line, getting a new listing and having good conversations with good people.”

Hussein Al Saffar – First National

Hussein Al Saffar has worked for First National Blacktown for one year.

Mr Al Saffar was drawn to a career in real estate because he wanted to do field work and help people find homes in the communities of their dreams.

“(I love) meeting new people and discussing the property market and if they have any questions about the suburb they are currently living in,” he said.

One sale which stands out in his mind is a recent auction.

“We negotiated the bidding price offered on the property and discussed that this was highest offer to sell and the seller trusted me as I have known him for a long time throughout my schooling,” he said.

Kate Smith — Ray White Paddington

This year Kate Smith, who works for Ray White Woollahra, decided to take the plunge and commence working as a solo agent.

Ms Smith previously worked in marketing and while she liked working in a creative space, she soon realised her true passion lay in working with people and negotiating sales.

“I think it’s important to be passionate about the area you operate in,” she said. “I also have a keen interest in interior design and architecture so it’s always exciting looking at lots of homes each week as they are all unique and have their own style.”

“(I also) really enjoy the negotiation process across all price points and always fight for my vendors to make sure we get the best possible result.”

Her results speak for themselves — with Ms Smith currently holding the suburb sales record for an apartment in Vaucluse and until recently held a similar record for a Randwick property.
