Married at First Sight contestant Georgia Fairweather is about to fly the coop for a second time, although this time she’s not running away from a would-be suitor.
The reality show contestant, paired with fellow Brisbanite Liam Cooper on this year’s series in a “marriage” far from made in heaven, is departing the plush penthouse at MacArthur Chambers in the CBD for Dubai.
The ninth-floor apartment has a vast balcony with 270-degree views of the city skyline and glimpses of the Brisbane River and direct access to the rooftop.
To promote the sale. Fairweather has created a speed-ramping video tour of the multi-level abode on Instagram that has already clocked more than 100,000 views and gathered more than two thousand likes.
With three bedrooms, three bathrooms and three carparks, the multimillion-dollar abode at 906/229 Queen Street has been home to Fairweather, her brother and their parents since 2016.
However, her brother has found a place of his own, Fairweather, 26, who has a cryptocurrency technology business, will be jetting off to the Middle East and her parents are going to be based overseas.
“I am going back overseas in October for work and that’s my plan and so is my mum, so they are going to sell,” Fairweather said.
“I’ve actually loved living there and I couldn’t imagine living anywhere else in Brisbane.
“The Apple store, a bottle shop and shopping centre are right there and across the road is the Queen St Mall.”
One of the penthouse’s strong selling points, besides its location is that has three car park spaces, said Place New Farm agent Aaron Woolard.
The building itself is heritage-listed. It was part of Australian history when US General Douglas MacArthur used the premises in 1942 as a base while Commander-In-Chief of the Allied Forces for the Pacific Region,
MacArthur Chambers was partially transformed into apartments in 2007 with Fairweather’s family buying it in 2016. said Mr Woolard.
He said the first open home was last weekend with strong interest both intrastate and interstate.
“The first open home was on the weekend and we had a lot of buyers from local and interstate and some overseas interest,” he said.
“A big selling feature is that it has three car parks and we’ve just seen car park being sold for $120,000 in the city and you are buying a piece of history.”
The home has been a perfect post-MAFS hideaway for Fairweather who managed to avoid the paparazzi unlike some of her fellow reality bachelors and bachelorettes, she said.
“A few of them had problems with paps like some had them turning up at their house and I think I never had any problem with paps because the building is so secure,” she said.
She said she rarely gets bothered by anyone except, “at bars and when they’ve had a few drinks and get brave and come up and talk to you”.
As for those wanting to talk to Mr Woolard about purchasing the property, he said they “were inviting interest in the late two million dollar range”.
