A feel-good auction in Carrum Downs raised more than $750,000 for not-for-profit youth organisation Menzies Caring for Kids on Saturday.
The brand-new 27 Sky Way house was auctioned by Mainline Developments and Brewsters Property Group in conjunction with OBrien Real Estate Carrum Downs.
Together they will be donating 100 per cent of the cash from the sale to support young people in the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula region who can no longer live with their families.

Four bidders faced off at the Saturday morning auction, with offers kicking off at $600,000. 11 minutes and 41 total bids later, the property sold for a generous $757,950 to an elderly couple seeking a low-maintenance home.
It features four-bedrooms, two bathrooms, a double garage and a stylish, modern kitchen with stainless-steel appliances.
OBrien director Stavros Ambatzidis noted the importance of “giving back” and supporting children in the area.
“We are so privileged to be involved with Menzies who have been supporting kids for over 150 years on the Mornington Peninsula,” Mr Ambatzidis said.
The house, located in the suburb’s Clifton Rise estate, was first listed with a $690,000-$750,000 price guide.
AUCTION REPLAYS AND RESULTS
OBrien Carrum Downs agent Symone Gatt said 27 groups had been through the home prior to the auction, including a mix of first-home buyers, second-home buyers and investors.
It comes after the Real Estate Institute of Victoria predicted about 830 properties would go under the hammer this week across the state.
27 HUNTINGFIELD RD, BRIGHTON
A three-bedroom Brighton house that has been tightly held by one family for more than 50 years soared a mega $410,000 over reserve on Saturday.
The three-bedroom home attracted seven bidders who competed in front of a 150-person crowd.
While two couples were “fighting it out” towards the end, the successful buyer came in at the last minute with his first and only bid of $3.36m that won him the keys — an offer $410,000 above the $2.95m reserve.
Nick Johnstone Real Estate Brighton boss Nick Johnstone said the buyer planned to live in the house temporarily before knocking it down and building a new home.
“It was a really strong result and a good turnout with lots of bidding,” Mr Johnstone said.
He added that the vendors, three sisters selling on behalf of their family, were “delighted” with the sale.
It initially had a $2.9m-$2.99m asking price.
332 PORTER ST, TEMPLESTOWE
Over in Templestowe, a four-bedroom house boasting elevated treetop views flew $120,000 above expectations at its Saturday auction.
Six bidders competed for the 332 Porter St home including both local and international buyers.
Offers kicked off at $1.5m before quickly surpassing the $1.68m reserve and eventually selling for $1.8m to a local buyer looking to move in.
Ray White Manningham agent Amir Sharifi had the $1.55m-$1.65m listing.
15 PERTH ST, PRAHRAN
And in Prahran, a three-bedroom Victorian-era house sold after passing in on a $2.01m offer at its Saturday auction.
Two bidders went up for the 15 Perth St pad, which had seen more than 70 groups through over its campaign including seven repeat inspections.
The buyer pool mostly comprised young families looking to make the property their own, as well as buyers from a renovation or design background.
After passing in, further negotiations led to the $2.05m sale to a young couple upsizing and wanting to “tackle a renovation”.
Jellis Craig Stonnington agent Zoe Pike said they had also completed a small renovation in the past on their current home.
The Prahran home originally had a $2m-$2.2m price guide
80 KENT ST, ASCOT VALE
A two-bedroom warehouse conversion in Ascot Vale sold for $1.15m under the hammer after three bidders pushed offers $210,000 above reserve.
Nelson Alexander Ascot Vale agent Josh Kalender said the 80 Kent St pad was a “one of a kind for the area” and saw about 150 buyers through the door in the first 10 days of its campaign.
“There was a huge crowd and a lot of people didn’t get the chance to put their hand up,” Mr Kalender said.
He added that interest had come from buyers of all sectors, including first-home owners, downsizers, upsizers and investors.
It was first listed with a $880,000-$940,000 price tag.
EARLIER IN THE WEEK
Strong auction results were also seen ahead of the weekend, including a four-bedroom Caroline Springs house which sold under the hammer on Thursday evening.
The 29 Otago Loop pad made its vendors about $700,000 since purchasing it in 2010, and an impressive $195,000 premium on their reserve.
A whopping 23 buyers registered to bid at the midweek auction after the home received 173 inspections over its campaign, including 26 repeat inspections.
Ray White Melton agent Mark Mintoff said the strong $945,000 sale was a result of the vendors investing in a “tidy up and style” prior to the auction, including spending $4500 in tradework and maintenance, $2500 in styling and nearly $3000 in marketing.
A crowd of more than 80 people gathered to watch the evening auction.
