Hawthorn Football Club director and REA Group boss Owen Wilson’s Toorak mansion has sold eight months after it was listed in February with a $16m-$17m price tag.

Mr Wilson has headed up the online property giant, of which NewsCorp is the majority shareholder, since 2018.

PropTrack records show the chief executive and his wife Liesl splashed $7.25m on the 25 Linlithgow Rd pad in 2008.

While the sale price is undisclosed, industry sources say the lofty eight-figure deal fell below the initial asking price at about $15m.

Stretching across a 1525sq m allotment, the property boasts a five-bedroom English manor-style house complete with a sauna, gym, wine cellar, swimming pool and tennis court.

Marshall White Stonnington’s Marcus Chiminello and Nicole French handled the sale and have been contacted for comment.

And the buyer will count cricketing legend Ricky Ponting and his wife Rianna as near neighbours, after the pair forked out more than $20m for a six-bedroom mansion on the same street earlier this year.
