Reality star D’Leanne Lewis has revealed the incredible truth behind managing the nation’s top homes during the pandemic property boom.
While many of us have spent the past two years in our pyjamas, not so the Laing and Simmons Double Bay principal and Luxe Listings star who has been rushed off her stilettos with a whirlwind of high end sales.
“Managing listings for some of the highest profile residents in the country during a pandemic has been a crazy experience,” Ms Lewis told the Wentworth Courier.
“The property market is hot and I have never seen prices so high.”
However the boom didn’t come without its challenges with ever changing restrictions keeping the veteran agent on her toes.
“As in all industries, we got through it, however we had to pivot and manage property showings in a completely different manner than people had experienced,” she revealed.
However all the hard work appears to have paid off if her recent sales are anything to go by.
“Working as a Sydney real estate agent, I’ve managed some jaw-dropping multimillion-dollar homes and worked with some interesting clientele,” Ms Lewis said.
“For example, I recently sold two homes in Vaucluse for $35 million and $23 million in only two months, while I set a record for the highest apartment ever sold in Rose Bay at $13.5 million.”
So how does one achieve such lofty heights? For a start by not judging a buyer as they walk in the door.
“You get all sorts of characters walking through an open home, but I always pride myself in taking everyone seriously – you never know who the potential buyer could be, as well as your next listing,” Ms Lewis said.
“In fact, the research from Prime Video revealed 65 per cent like to be nosy and attend open homes.
“I find the quirkier the home, the quirkier the prospective buyer. People are looking for a home that matches their personality, so when you have a one-of-a-kind, you’re likely to find a one-of-a-kind buyer.
“It is quite interesting – a home and the way it is styled will tell you a lot about the previous owner and the style of owner that is going to pick up the property.”
As part of a stunt to promote the new Hotel Transylvania movie, Ms Lewis is the “listing agent” for a faux sale of famous federation mansion Kirkham’s Camelot in Narellan which was transformed into the spooky accommodation depicted in the film.
“I would have to highlight its dungeon, dining hall and haunted mezzanine to showcase how quirky yet versatile this property is,” Ms Lewis said.
Hotel Transylvania 4: Transformania and Luxe Listings are available on Prime Video.
