Work on a $72m state-of-the-art senior lifestyle village has finally kicked off in Gordonvale with the community set to include on-site medical care, respite services, hairdressers, a library and even its own bar.
Developers of Casa Mia Living promise a redefined concept of retirement living with its wholistic community model offering an unparalleled lifestyle and a deep sense of belonging in the tropical north.
Phase one of development on the Gordonvale site has commenced with the first residents expected to move in by late 2025.
“We are excited to mark this pivotal moment in the development of Casa Mia,” developer Renee Straguszi said.
“This project extends beyond constructing homes; it is about fostering a thriving community with exceptional amenities and support.
“Our commitment is to provide an outstanding living environment for our residents.”
The village will feature a central piazza, heated pool, gym, and cafe, alongside state-of-the-art facilities including on-site medical care with a doctor, nurse, and respite services.
Residents will also be able to enjoy a bar, restaurant, hairdresser, nail salon, library, workshop, convenience store, and a community bus.
The Straguszi family, known for their development of The Lakes Resort and Cairns One, has invested nine years in creating North Queensland’s first retirement village to offer both ageing-in-place facilities and on-site respite care, marking a significant milestone in senior living.
The development of Casa Mia Living is expected to provide significant economic benefits to the Cairns region, with over $1m already invested in underground infrastructure, including trunk sewer lines, stormwater systems, and essential utility connections.
The project will generate jobs during both the construction phase and ongoing operations, addressing the growing demand for high-quality senior living options in North Queensland.
With underground services now complete, Casa Mia Living is set to advance to the overground construction phase.
On Tuesday, September 3, Casa Mia Living will host a group presentation at Cazalys Cairns, providing an opportunity for interested parties to learn more about the development.
