Oscars pizza guy finally gets his tip

THE delivery man who brought pizza to the Oscars has achieved worldwide fame and confirmed he had no idea he would end up on the world stage.

ELLEN DeGeneres took around Pharrell Williams’s giant hat to tip the pizza delivery guy who fed stars at the Oscars but he didn’t see it a dime of it at the awards show.

Edgar, who works for Big Mama’s & Papa’s Pizzeria in Hollywood, brought five large pizzas and a collection of smaller pizzas for the event.

Stars including Kevin Spacey, Meryl Streep and Julia Roberts tucked into the surprise treat while DeGeneres collected $300 from Brad Pitt and Harvey Weinstein to tip the man, but he left the venue without the cash, TMZ reports.

Edgar was later invited on DeGeneres’ talk show where he says he was paid.

“I got the tip, I was just at The Ellen Show live and I got the tip,” he told Kyle and Jackie O this morning.

The website said that Edgar had no idea that DeGeneres had passed around the hat for him but given an ad during the Oscars costs about $1.8 million, the publicity is thought to be worth about $10 million to the pizza chain.

The delivery man also had no idea that he would be part of the telecast, he added to Kiis FM.

“They just called and they ordered pizza and I’m the owner of that pizzeria actually and it was really extremely busy so I just grabbed those pizzas and I delivered and when I went there I didn't know that I’m gonna go on stage.

“They told me I’m gonna deliver for riders and then when I was waiting and Ellen came up and she just told me ‘just follow me’ and I’m like ‘where are we going’ and she said ‘just follow me’ and then I went and I’m like ‘wow’, I was shocked, I was on stage.”

Brad Pitt and Kevin Spacey showed their good manners by handing out serviettes and paper plates before grabbing slices for themselves.

Jared Leto got a slice for his mum and heavily pregnant star Kerry Washington took to Twitter to reassure her fans that she was not overlooked by those handing out pizza and is in fact gluten intolerant.

After the slices were handed out DeGeneres declared that she didn’t have any money to pay for the delivery.

“Where’s Harvey Weinstein?” she said while looking for the co-founder of Miramax Films.

”Only a billion people were watching,” she told the billionaire as she urged him to tip ”whatever you think is right.”
