WINNING silverware with the Western Sydney Wanderers is high on Youssouf Hersi's agenda after he penned a one-year extension with the football club.

Hersi, 30, has been one of several standout performers for the Wanderers in their inaugural A-League season and is eager to bring a trophy to the club.

"I want to win something with the Wanderers, if not this year then next year and beyond," Hersi said.

"It is hard for us coming together from different places but we are good now and things are working very well."

The Ethiopian-born Dutch national has scored four goals so far this season and has the second highest number of goal assists with seven.

Wanderers executive chairman Lyall Gorman said Hersi's energy on and off the park had turned him into a fan favourite.

"His attacking flair and work rate has been a tremendous hit with his teammates and fans and off the field his jovial personality endears him to all," Gorman said.

WINNING WAYS

The Wanderers will hope to continue their winning ways when they host the Newcastle Jets at Campbelltown Stadium tomorrow at 7.45pm.
