WESTERN Sydney Wanderers coach Tony Popovic has admitted it is a very special time for the club after their fifth consecutive win lifted them to second on the A-League football ladder.

The Wanderers defeated the Newcastle Jets 2-1 at Campbelltown Sports Stadium with goals to Youssouf Hersi and Nepean junior Mark Bridge.

Popovic said his side deserved to be sitting in second spot after 20 rounds but pointed to the next three crucial games to sort out the top four.

"We have Melbourne Victory away, Perth at home and Central Coast away and it is a great time to be at this club and be a footballer," he said.

"We have three games to look forward to and at the end of them we will know how high we can finish."

Despite facing the Victory and Mariners in coming weeks, Popovic said he would not prepare his teams any differently.

"Five consecutive wins show you that we take no opponent lightly and we respect every opponent," he said.

"We have tactics against every opponent, like they will against us.

"Now it's time to prepare for Victory and tactically we will try to do our very best to win in Melbourne."

The Wanderers face the Victory at AAMI Park on Saturday at 7.45pm.
